Different entry requirements may apply depending on your country of origin, nationality, bilateral agreements, and the purpose of your visit. These include an e visa, a visa application through a consulate/embassy, visa upon arrival or entry with a national id or passport.

national id/passport: If you are a citizen of a country listed below, you can enter Türkiye with your national ID, in accordance with the “European Agreement on Regulations governing the Movement of Persons between Member States of the Council of Europe”. Please note that we do not recommend this option if you are required to apply for a residence or a work permit during your stay. Entering the country using a valid passport is the safest and smoothest option.
Turkish citizens living abroad and holders of Mavi Kart only require a valid passport or ID card to enter Türkiye. They do not apply either for visa or residence permit.
Staff:
If you are planning to work at YTU, as an international staff you are required to obtain a work visa and a residence permit before your arrival. If you had been in Türkiye at the time of your application on a valid residence permit for at least 6 months, you can apply for a work permit from within Türkiye without leaving the country. This rule does not include students who reside in Türkiye on student status. Please contact your department for further assistance regarding the visa plan appropriate for you.
Students:
If you are an international student planning to study here for more than three months, you are legally required to have a residence permit. You can apply for a residence permit after your arrival. Please ensure that your passport is valid for at least 60 days after your intended stay.
You might need your acceptance letter to apply for your visa. You will receive your letter after your application is approved by the relevant academic department at YTU.
Reminders:
-Note that special conditions of visa/residence may apply to non-EU/EEA country citizens, even if they have a residence permit from a European country.
-As processing a visa application may take a long time, you are advised to file your application as soon as possible once you receive your letter of acceptance or invitation. Students receive the letter of acceptance after their application is approved by the relevant academic department at YTU.
- Please note that the Erasmus Office is not involved in the visa application process. Incoming staff, researchers, students, and visiting members are responsible for applying for a visa themselves.
-Refer to https://www.mfa.gov.tr/visa-information-for-foreigners.en.mfa for updated information on the entry requirements, visa application procedure, and specific exemptions.
